PHOTOS: Early Entry for Hotel Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Debuts, How To Drive Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

As part of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration”, guests of the participating hotels can enter all four Walt Disney World theme parks 30 minutes earlier each day. We went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the first day of early admission this morning to see what boarding Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance would be like.

Performers at the park entrance led the hotel guests into the park. To check if you have a hotel reservation, your MagicBand or card will be scanned before you reach the entrance.

We arrived around 8:20 am. Non-hotel guests were detained at the turnstiles on the right.

We entered the park immediately without waiting.

The following attractions are available during early admission:

  • Alien swirling saucers
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
  • Rock ‘n’ roller coaster with Aerosmith
  • Slinky Dog Dash
  • Star Tours – The adventures continue
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ™
  • Toy story mania!

The cast directed guests to the right for most attractions and to the left for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Of course, most of the guests went to the left.

A crowd formed on the way to Batuu. We were held here until 8:30 a.m.

Star Tours was also open.

At 8:39 a.m., it seemed like it was our official turn for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance since we had stopped moving.

The performers then led the guests into a proper row.

The queue went right to a backstage section.

We then pulled back onto Grand Avenue and drove to Batuu.

The line continued to meander through Galaxy’s Edge.

Performers were also on hand to guide guests to Savi’s hand-built lightsaber workshop.

At 8:59 a.m. we reached the standby entrance, where a 60-minute waiting time was advertised. While we stood in line, we kept checking the My Disney Experience app, which finally listed Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance with a 165 minute wait. Other attractions varied from 5 to 50 minutes.

We reached the first pre-show room at 9:30 am, a little over an hour after entering Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

We were at 9:48 a.m. from Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

In total, we spent about an hour waiting when the rope fall actually happened, which isn’t bad, but Rose of the Resistance posted a 50 minute wait in the evening with reports that guests waited less. Perhaps it is better to wait than fight this mob in the morning.
